On my way to school this morning when I noticed a message from the iPhone Dev team’s twitter:
vfdecrypt -k 148025cde5c51d51d7733e74c6857dfca70d7240287d6eb039a1ed835413120b0af1e296 -i 018-4056-128.dmg -o ipt2g_mainfs.dmg

it looks like they have managed to decrypt the iPod Touch 2G’s main file system and a jailbreak could come sooner than we thought

Ok, so I’ve upgraded my iPod Touch to 1.1.3 now and it works! It does appear that you need to have a freshly jailbroken iPod though. I had to restore mine to 1.1.1 after the first time (it went into recovery mode) but it worked after I jailbroke that and installed oktoprep.
