Who Is General Failure And Why Is He Reading My Hard Drive?

So, Old Reliable, my 7 year old Tiny PC is being it’s usual reliable self. I can’t say I’ve ever seen a computer that breaks down so reliably (except maybe my mum’s).
First sign I had that something was wrong was when I was setting up for a little LAN party (GTA San Andreas with the SA:MP mod installed it awesome by the way) and one of my hard drives wasn’t showing up. Next time I went to turn the computer on, it lit up, whirred, coughed and died like a asthmatic sucking on an exhaust pipe.
I think the power supply is the problem but I don’t happen to have a compatible one lying around the house, which is unusual, because I seem to have every other computer part lying around my room.
Unfortunately, when power supplies fail, they have a nasty tendency to drag other components with them. If I buy a new power supply, I could find out I also need a new motherboard, processor and graphics card.
Fortunately, my drives are fine. I ordered a double hard drive caddy yesterday and installed it this afternoon. Luckily all my data is fine but I still can’t get into Windows XP…not that I’d want to
